OLDER COMMUNICATIONS FROM STATE DIRECTOR
DEPUTY STATE DIRECTOR FOR YOUNG ADULTS CORNER
Message from Newly Elected Deputy State Director for Young Adult's
Joe'L "El Joelito" Trujillo
Muchisimas gracias gente for your genuine support and guidance throughout this exciting campaign. As a Taos native, I was extremely excited to have the 82nd Annual State convention back home and to share this joyous weekend with my council and brothern & sistern of the League as well. Barley being apart of this organization for a year and a half. I have took leadership to a fast and new direction. I am the co-founder of what is being praised as the most dynamic Young Adult's council not in the state but in the nation. As the Immediate-Past President of Council 8057 I have spent a years time learning more about the organization, recruiting for new membership, advocating issues & causes that are important to this league and lastly being a representation of what young adult leadership in our raza is all about. I promise this organization and my council that I will deliever on what I am aim to bring forth to next years state convention. More young adult council's and more involvement from Council 8057 on a state-wide level. From the council's in Roswell all the way back to Taos, From Council 8035 to Council 120, I am humbled by y'alls support & friendship and now serving on the state board I assure you progressive change is on the way and I will demand that we young adult's take action in what is happening in our state and demand notice, for which we are young men and women out to make change and we will do it most effectiely & proudly! On to new beginnings with this League!
Mas Paz

"POLITICAL CARTOONS" against driver's licenses for immigrants in the Roswell Daily Record are an ill-disguised racist slur, say LULAC affiliates in Southern New Mexico and LULAC New Mexico's State Director, Ralph Arellanes Sr.. I join their voices as LULAC Civil Rights Chair and District 1 Director. The Roswell Daily Record has a long history of thinly-disguised racism, and this is but another example of it. KRQE News 13 is only willing to say that "some" say the newspaper cartoons are offensive. If even Governor Susana Martinez, chief proponent of prohibiting this type of drivers license in New Mexico, says the cartoons go too far and are "downright racist" (watch the video clip or read the linked story) then you KNOW that this is beyond the pall Commit an act of democracy today! Say "NO" to racist political satire.

THE RIGHT TO GENETICALLY NATURAL FOOD STUFFS is a basic Human and Civil right, as far as I'm concerned. The nation of France has spoken out to the European Union, demanding the suspension of authorization to cultivate Monsanto's genetically modified MON810 corn. France points out that Germany, Hungary, Greece, Luxembourg, Austria and Bulgaria already prohibit cultivation of this genetically modified corn. The Frenxh Ministry of Ecology pointed to a recent study by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) that raised concerns with another form of GM crop, BT11, that it said could also be applied to MON 810.
